At EDIFY Background Screening we care about ensuring Applicants are treated fairly and the information complied as part of their background check is accurate, up to date, and timely with respect to the position for which they are applying.  Therefore, we developed this page to help Applicants with questions about the process, their report, or who need assistance regarding a background check that may have been conducted as part of seeking an employment, promotion, or volunteer position with an organization that is a client of EDIFY Background Screening.

How do I request a copy of my background check report?

If EDIFY prepared a background check report in your name for one of our clients, or if you wish to have access to records (if any) EDIFY may have on file for you, you are entitled to a free copy of the report(s). To request a copy of your report, complete the form below and return to us by mail, e-mail, or fax.

How do I dispute my background check report?

If you do not recognize information in your background report or think an item might be incorrect, you may request an investigation of the disputed item. To request a re-investigation, complete the Reinvestigation Form below and return to us by mail, e-mail, or fax.  Upon receipt of your properly submitted dispute, EDIFY has thirty (30) calendar days to conduct a reinvestigation of the information disputed.

What if the re-investigation did not resolve my dispute?

You are entitled to file a brief statement setting forth the nature of the dispute. To file the statement, you must complete the Consumer Statement Request form located below.  Please limit your statement to 500 words or less and provide a clear summary of your dispute. Unless there are reasonable grounds to believe that your dispute statement is frivolous or irrelevant, we shall include the provided statement in any future report that contains the disputed information.

How do I go about getting a conviction expunged from my record?

Sometimes mistakes from your past can lead to criminal convictions that have an adverse impact on your ability to qualify for certain employment opportunities.  If this has happened to you, we want you to know we at EDIFY understand what your are going through, and are committed to helping you become gainfully employed in the field of your choosing.  That’s why we participate in the MyClearStart program to help consumer get derogatory information removed from their record.
