Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What identification is required?
A: For DOT FMCSA tests, the donor must present a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). For non-DOT tests, a standard government photo ID is sufficient.
Q: What happens if a test is positive?
A: If the initial screening is ≥ 0.02, a confirmation test is mandated after a 15-minute wait. Our technicians stay on-site to complete this protocol immediately.
Q: Do you offer post-accident testing?
A: Yes. We specialize in rapid-response mobile testing to help employers meet the 2-hour and 8-hour DOT windows for post-accident alcohol screening.
Q: What happens if a donor is unable to provide enough breath for the test?
A: This is known as a “Shy Lung” situation. Per DOT regulations, the donor is given a second attempt. If they still cannot provide a sufficient sample, the technician will stop the test and the employer must direct the employee to undergo a medical evaluation within five days to determine if a medical condition exists.
Q: Do we need to provide anything special for an on-site testing visit?
A: To maintain DOT compliance and privacy, we require a quiet, private area with a table, two chairs, and a power outlet. The space should be free from distractions and unauthorized personnel to ensure the integrity of the testing process and the confidentiality of the donor.
Q: How quickly will I receive the official results and documentation?
A: Results are available immediately. Our evidential breath testing (EBT) devices generate a printed report on-site, which is signed by both the technician and the donor. A digital copy or formal report is typically uploaded to your secure client portal or emailed within minutes of the test completion.
